What you need to be aware of when buying or selling a home with an oil tank

On June 28, 2001, the Ontario Legislature enacted the new Technical Standard and Safety Authority (TSSA) Act, 2000, which outlines appropriate procedures for homeowners of buried or free standing fuel tanks on removal and maintenance.  Old underground oil tanks and poorly maintained or defective heating systems are the leading cause of oil spills and leaks, leading to costly cleanup in the hundreds of thousands.

Immigrating under the Canadian Experience Class Category

Last year, Canada accepted 182,322 temporary foreign workers and nearly 100,000 international students. International students and temporary foreign workers make ideal candidates for Canadian immigration, since they have already lived in the country and are familiar with the language and culture.

Applicants using the Canadian Experience Class category still need work experience in their field of study, however many provinces like British Columbia assist foreign students in achieving the necessary experience in order to apply.  

Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program

The Province of Manitoba has a Provincial Nominee Program for Skilled Workers. This program allows Manitoba to select or nominate individuals for permanent resident status in Canada who can demonstrate that they have the skills and adaptability necessary to contribute to the economy of Manitoba.

Federal Skilled Worker Class Categories Closing Quickly

The Federal Skilled Worker category of immigration originally listed 29 occupations eligible for immigration purposes under the Federal Skilled Worker application. However, Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management closed earlier this year and more recently Registered Nurses category closed. If you fall in any category that is still open Don’t delay in starting your application.

If however, your category is already closed, you may still apply under different categories or apply once the category opens

    Quebec's Skilled Worker program uses the human capital method of evaluating applicants, assessing an individual's qualifications based on their total background, not just experience in one particular field. 

    New Changes in Immigration Laws for Federal Investor Category

    As of late June 2010, no more federal investor applications are accepted under the old rules. New changes in immigration laws for federal investor category are coming into effect soon.
